Today, we’ll share with you a moon ritual for babies and children. Back in old days, parents used to offer the baby to the moon to protect them from the dangers and to avoid the health complications that some newborns had. The elders say that when performing this ritual the protected children become to cry less, because they felt less pain and were saved against envy and the evil eye.
With pagan origins, this ritual still exists today. The mother or woman who raises the baby or child should take him or her secretly to a place where the Full Moon’s rays can strike them – ideally in the field or on the beach, raising the child to the moon, asking for their protection.
According to this ritual, by delivering children and babies to the moon, they are eternally protected by their brightness, becoming calmer children, protected from all envy and evil eye. Even the typical pains of little ones are relieved about the protection of the moon.
How to make the moon ritual for babies and children
Ideally, you should perform this ritual in an open place where you can be in contact with the light of the moon. If it’s not possible, you can perform it in the baby’s room by placing the baby close to your chest and mentoring the moonlight all the time. This ritual must be performed during the Full Moon.
You’ll need:
- 7 candles – which will be used to light child’s path;
- 1 crystal Moonstone – for luck and moon protection;
- 1 cup of salted water – for purification purposes;
- 7 incense sticks of your choice – to renew energy;
- 1 glass of water – to place the Moonstone.
Light the first candle and the first incense. Then dip the moonstone into the glass containing salt water and sing the following song:
Moon, moonlight
Moon moonlight
Take this baby
For you to create
You’re the mother, I’m the babysitter
Create you that I feed,
In praise of the Virgin Mary
Our Father, Ave Maria.
Moon, moonlight
Moon moonlight
Take this boy
For you to create
That she/he is a little one.
I’m a mother,
You are the babysitter
I give milk and love,
give her/him bread and splendor.
Now is the time to thank the moon and have full confidence that it will protect your baby. Let the candle and incense burn until the end (pay close attention to the candle flame to avoid causing a fire).
You should repeat this ritual for 7 days straight, always repeating the same way. The moonstone should be kept in the glass with salt and water, avoiding any touch after placing it.
The remains of candles and incense should also be kept. On the last day, remove all leftover candles and incense sticks, and then throw them away in the common trash. Remove the candle from the water and place under the child’s bed.
