You know those Full Moon nights when you’re sure the moon seems bigger? Anyone who has observed and admired one of these moons has certainly felt a different kind of energy and power – it’s almost like hypnotism. It appears in the sky in such an impressive way that there are always people who comment with surprise: “Look how big the moon is!” And the question that always arises is: does it really change the moon? And more! Is there anything special about it in astrology? Put a reminder in your calendar so you don’t miss the Supermoons in 2024. The spectacle itself, and the energy you’ll be able to feel, makes it all worthwhile.
The brighter in the sky, the brighter on us too
When you look up at the sky on the dates listed below, you’ll be sure to notice that the moon appears larger. This happens when a full moon coincides with the Moon’s closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit, i.e. a perigee, that’s the Supermoons!
This gives us the sensation that the moon is bigger and brighter than usual. Just as when you look at an object from near or far, you get the impression that its size is changing. The difference, however, is that this is not just any object, but the natural satellite with a big influence on the Earth and on us.
It’s important to point out that the Moon passes through its perigee several times, but we only talk about the supermoons when it occurs exactly during the Moon’s full phase. In astrology, the full moon phase represents a period of harvest and results. It’s the moment of the peak of one’s enlightenment, and therefore also of revelation. During the full moon phase, we have high tides, and as the moon represents our emotions, feelings are noticed. Some people become more elated and may become more emotionally delicate, others may feel more emotional, irritable, have headaches or difficulty sleeping.
A supermoon therefore represents the energy of a full moon, but amplified, and is a phenomenon that occurs only a few times a year. In 2024, there will only be two supermoons, so it’s worth marking these dates and expecting the possible impacts on your life.
